    Re: Phenolic Spar Bushings

Here is the text block from Drawing 2569, as provided by Don Eide. It appears that there was a 1947 original, which was superseded by this drawing.

My question is which airplanes does this belong on legally, and which airplanes does this not belong on?

More importantly, what is the exact structural reason for these parts. They look like shims, but the title is "reinforcing".

The Gilberti / Harer STC seems to assume that every T-craft already has these part 2569 pieces on the spars. But as far as I know, the VAST majority of Taylorcrafts do NOT have these pieces on them.

The 1951 Model 19, with 85 Horsepower and 1500 pounds gross weight, apparently does not have these pieces installed. My pre-war BC wing blueprints does not show them. Rob Lees' BC-12D does not have them. Crispy Critter's spars do not have them. One eyewitness reports that F-21's have them. Rob Lees' F-22 has them. In 1947, there was some need for this part to be designed, and in 1959 (or whenever) Jack Gilberti just assumed everyone had them which IMHO was a travesty.

If you do NOT have these pieces on your spars, the Gilberti / Harer welded strut fittings and upper struts will NOT FIT correctly, and you would have a very unsafe situation in turbulence.
