    Re: Wing Rib Nails

    QM,
I have at least one small bag of coated nails that Dorthy Ferris (circa 1984) sent me when I was going to rebuild by 45 12D wings. I can look at them and do some measurements or send a few if you like. (I want to keep them as I may have to do some more wing work myself.)

VB, why do you recommend the 337 vs the STC? Do you still have your paper with your thoughts on the 337?

          Re: Wing Rib Nails

I'm still working on this nail problem. As I said in one of my last posts, I can get a great looking 18 ga. nail in 1/2 5/8 3/4 lengths at the local Hardware store. The problem is they are not plated. So I contacted a Plating shop in Phoenix and they said that they can copper plate them for us. He just wants to know how many so he can give us a price. He will have to run seperate batches for eace size. So any one interested, Email me with how many pounds of each size you want, (1/4, 1/2 3/4 etc.), and do the leg work and get the prices. The more people we get the better, as the plating ain't cheap......the price of 1/4 pound is the same as 1 pound. Also, I think that the 1/2 and 5/8 lengths would be the best lengths. If the 3/4 was a little long, it would go completely through and could loosen the flanges and nails on the opposite side of the spar.
