  • Early L2 nearing completion

My 1941 L2 restoration is nearing completion. It last few in 1956 and I have owned it as a project since 1987. 2 years ago I committed all of my available time to completing the restoration. I have completed all of the repairs and am currently covering.

Question: Is anyone out there currently working on an original L2 or DC65 with the turtle deck? Does anyone have a complete or flying L2 or DC65 with the turtle deck? If so, I would like to correspond with you about a few details that I am trying to figure out. Any here is a silly question, but does anyone have a serviceable or repairable cowl they would be willing to sell? I need the exposed cylinder cowl. The cowl is still my most challenging project to finish the restoration. Jerry Miel, 5two0 three 7 zero, 7258.

I've got YO-57 and TG-6 conversion projects that are turtle decks. Also an L-2A that should be an observer but came with a fastback fuselage. I haven't committed to converting it back as yet. I understand the cowling problem. I've got 3 usable/repairable cowlings for my 4 projects but I'm not sure the 4th is even suitable for patterns. Happy to help if I can.
