  • "all parts are simple to fabricate..."

So I'm looking for a mangled fuselage on which to practice my welding. I go to e-bay and there is one in OR for $100. No, I'm not going to purchase it, but the description states: "Wing-struts, tail-feathers and landing gear assemblies were scavenged before I got the plane. All are simple parts to fabricate, being welded tubing"

My first reaction is "Who is he kidding?", but maybe I'm wrong. Anyone care to give their impressions on how difficult it would be to fabricate any of the parts? Looking at the mangled landing gear I have it would be VERY tedious to attempt to build a jig to build the gear.

Well mike, it all depends on where you live and what relationship you have with your wife. Living just outside of D.C. where there is so much to do and see and having a short winter I think it would be a little much. But put your self in northern Sweden with no sunlight for 3 months and a fat wife who has just about driven you to seek redemption from the gods of absolute, then the two tanks in the corner of the shop start to look better for cuddling when lonely.

I use to do so crazy projects when I lived in the god forsaken land of Rochester, NY, but now I find myself taking camping trips on my boat in mid January. Here in the sunny south.

When it comes to doing long projects I do enjoy it, but let me tell you my latest alterative:
3 months ago I got home from a 6 mo. Motorcycle trip through 9 countries (all of Centro Americana). It cost me less then $4000. and now I speak a little Spanish, advanced scuba cert. and have many new friends.

In that same time I could have recovered half of my plane.
