  • Stromberg NA-S3 carburetor Mixture

Having read a bit about the mixture control on the Stromberg NA-S3 carburetor, I wanted to ask those who have them.

Are they worth having? Do they help at all? I would like to be able to lean now and then but I’ve read that they don’t work well, or some say at all.

    Thanks!!

I've got a marvel schiebler MA 3 SPA on my C-85,but use an 0200 spider. And you'll love it. I'm guessing that you've got an 85 ?

didn't do much for me. Tried to lean it out, didn't see much on the rpm's wired it back to full rich. That was about 10 years ago.

If you are flying at less than 3000' MSL then it won't do hardly anything. If you are flying in the hills, it will do something. Not much, but you will need every last horsepower that a 65 has to offer once in a while.

It WOULD have made the difference in me getting over a 5000 foot mountain range one fine day in February, but I didn't have it available.
