Look at this pic taken at OSH a year or so ago Hmm .
it's a very small turbine.
That firewall and fuselage don't appear any more rugged than what we're familiar with.
Has anyone played with the idea?

The high fuel consumption kills almost all of the benefits. Just about anyone who ever flew an older light airplane has thought of this. It would be a fantastic airplane for STOL competitions, and time to cliimb records. But as a useful every day airplane, the idea does not hold water.

So, Mike what I see here is a powerplant that uses 14gph, coughing up 200 ponies, in an airframe that on its best day will go, say 2600 lbs gross

I know this A.P. I/A and he's kind of a nut......and he's got a turbine that he wants to mate w/ a PA18 airframe , he claims the thing about 'em is they're light , and the TBO's are nearly non-existant, especially if the plant is derated ,to say 75% output...... and they're small. After you've extend the nose for proper C/G limits you can use the engine compartment for luggage! No kiddin....... Birdy

With the slim frontal area I can see one in something similar to a single seat F1, say about 300 cruise. Then the 14 per hour wouldn't matter.
