 Re: Appraiser?

So far I've done my on research. Pretty easy to do on aircraft in the price range of Taylorcrafts. Just watch TAP, Barnstormers, etc. for a few months and you'll get a rough idea of what things are going for.Craig Helm

 Re: Appraiser?

I have been watching Trade-A-Plane for a few months.
The average price was found by totalling the asking price of all BC12-Ds with an A-65. Had to be a flying aircraft.

 I got:
 Date No. of A/C Average$$
 04-06-04 4 $20,250
 04-29-05 6 17,999
 06-06-05 7 17,286
 06-24-05 4 17,125
 07-01-05 4 16,750
 07-14-05 3 17,000
 07-21-05 4 17,125

You can get a $$Number from Trade-A-Plane but it ranges Low $12,800 to High $20,000. For my plane it gave me a number of $19,450 in April 2003 and $19,450 in Jan 2005 but I don't see me getting that so the numbers are only a guess.

I think its a "What ever the market will bare" kind of thing.

 Hope this helps.

 Rick

May also vary from coast to coast. And as someone mentioned (at least with Barnstormers), the asking price is just a starting point.Originally posted by Rick_UtleyYou can get a $$Number from Trade-A-Plane but it ranges Low $12,800 to High $20,000.

Which brings up a point, Is there a general rule that I can use to say "this maintenance is simply keeping the a/c airworthy but this maintenance may additionally increase it's resale value"? - MikeMike Horowitz

 Re: Appraiser?

There is useful life and depreciation to consider besides maintenance. If you have "life time" fabric, there is a lot more useful life than Grade A. If the engine is low-time, there is a lot more useful life than high-time. Quality and workmanship are also considerations, and overall appearance. Other considerations have also been mentioned, such as location.

If you want to split hairs about the word "maintenance," then think in terms of a car where maintenance is oil changes, spark plug cleanings, tuning, brakes, exhaust, tires, etc. In airplanes, use the 337 as a guide: if there was a major alteration or repair, then that would affect the price.
