  • Wasn't there a recent posting on cleaning connectors?

Within the last few days I recall a message on cleaning coax connectors; may have mentioned transponders, and someone being paid as a youngster to do the cleaning.

I've searched on 'cleaning' and 'transponder' to no avail.

Can anyone point me to that message string? - thanks - Mike

Well, considering what they must have gone through last time they were with you...

Seriously, please accept everyone's best wishes and our unanimous demand for you to get well immediately and get right back in an airplane ASAP.

if your looking for how to do it; get some electrical connector spray (electronics stores, and even Home Depot have it) and use it to wash out and off the metal connectors. Be careful with plastics and some paints as the cleaner can soften them or wash away paint.

If you want to go to the next level, there are packaged wipes (like you get with chicken...) that are a cleaner and anti-corrosion flim that are made for one time use.

Telecom people use this stuff a lot.

Then of course we have to wash our fiber every year cause someone said it gets dirty.... maybe its the porn?

You bet; I'm already talking with my A&P.

Speaking about underwear - you know the story about parents telling their kids to wear clean underwear in case they get in an accident and have to be seen in their UW in the ER? Well, I didn't lose my sense of humor during the visit to the trauma area; but I did forget to ask if this was the reason I always wore clean UW. All I could remember was to ask the Dr. if I could still play the violin after this accident. He had heard the joke.

They do tell you everything they are about to do to you to ease your anxiety, so when they told me they were going to check for internal injuries via my bung hole, I did have the presence of mind to ask if they wouldn't mind checking my prostate while they were at it (I'm due for a checkup). They were friendly, but apparently had other things on their minds. - MIke

              Mike,

              Speedy recovery.

Does a prop strike with a wooden prop require an engine tare-down?

                Yup.
And in this area, that's minimally $3500.

Maybe you can take it apart yourself and save 1/4 of that cost???

If you find the right IA or engine shop, you can participate in putting it back together too, which would be real good on several levels.

Now THAT's the best idea I've heard all day!
I could discuss it with them, take it apart at my house, have them do an inspection, then determine how to go from there.

They arn't likely to let me re-assemble it outside their view are they (the engine shop)? - Mike
