Next weeek I will be returning to work in the aviation world. The guy I will be working for has an extreemly large inventory of small cont. parts including mags and carbs, probably over 100 cylinders too! Part of my job when not building engines or restoring airplanes is to sell off this inventory of parts. I'll dig through the crate of mags and see what I can find for you. There is atleast 4 sets of the AM4 mags available that I know of, maybe more?
Thanks, Jason. Specifically, the p-lead attachment point broke off the cover of the right mag. The mag still seems to work. So that's what I need. If I have to buy an right entire mag, ok, but I don't much want to buy a set. However, I might be interested in a good set of LA-4's, and I would also be interested in a right Bendix so I could put shielded plugs on the bottom plugs, all depending on what he's got, what he wants for them, and condition. I spend much of the time grounded for one reason or another. Any help you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks,
I have a couple that don't belong to me, but I think my friend would let one go for a good cause. Let me know if you don't have sucess elsewhere.
Darryl
Ed,
Oops I am mistaken. My friends mags are LA-4's. I should have caught that when you mentioned changing to shielded. (are the AM's unshielded?)
Joel said he would be willing to part with one if you are in dire straights (sounds like it from the last message.) He said he would be willing to trade the entire mag for a unservicable wood prop that he could refinish and use for display. We can probably work out something else, too.. Anyway if you want I can check it out better this evening for things like a loose shaft or binding or missing parts, maybe even do a spark check. I'll let you know and you can decide if you want it or not. May be able to send a picture if I can get the file size of the picuture down to something reasonable without screwing it up. I don't know what the gear on it is for, perhaps you can tell from a picture.
Darryl
Darryl, Thanks for the trouble. Lee (AKA Yellow Duck) suggested I go with a Slick kit, and for the price, it's hard to beat. So, I bit the bullet, and it will be here Wed from Teledyne-Mattituck. With short plugs and very flexible wires, I might not need bumps--we'll see. Thanks all for scrounging around trying to help me out.
