  • New Seats!!

I had some new cushions made for the T and boy are they nice!! Actually, I had them made for my back and bum, I just put them in the T!!!!

What a difference! I had them use that new high density space age foam for the bottom cushion. Should be interesting to see if it makes it a bit easier to fly longer....

          Howdy Richard,

I am looking forward to your report on how you like the "New Age" foam. I am getting ready to re-do the interior of N39203 and the new stuff seems like the way to go. How bad was the cost and what did you use for the fabric.
          Best Regards

            Re: New Seats!!

I have to qualify this report.....I did a little more than have the seats done. So here is a synopsis of all the work:
Bottom Bench cushion: New fangled Foam
Back Bench cushion: Medium weight 'normal' foam
            Both doors with pocket
            Sections underneath the panel
            Uprights on front of doors.

I am attaching pictures so you can see what was done. I left the headliner alone as well as the deck above my panel and fuel tank as they still look new. I am VERY pleased with the work. It would seem that the two panels that were down by the rudder pedals were oil soaked (from my previous oil leak, if you can call it that) so they replaced the backing as well. They put little straps on the back cushion and attached them will buttions to the wood panel in the cargo section to keep it from creeping down. I really like the pockets as it makes it a lot easier to store crap (like pesky maps) in a handy place. All that plus the labor to install it all cost me $416.00. This was a touch higher than the initial quote, but appearently rebuilding the lower panels wasn't expected. The owner also told me that my plane made him bleed. Guess Lil' T only prefers me to work on her!! The price was still in my "acceptable" range, especially for what I received over what I had!

I flew a short cross country yesterday and noticed that I still need a little lumbar support, but my bum and leg no longer start hurting 30 minutes after the flight starts. Due to my height I have to let the sling sag a bit more than normal which when combined with the bar in your back causes a slouch. The new cushions help A LOT with negating this, and with a little lumbar support, I think, will put the final touch on it! The Oshkosh trip will be the crucible.....
