  • Waxing the fabric

    Hello everyone,

Anyone out there wax their plane? If so, what do you use? What is safe for the fabric/finish? Anything easier/harder? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Brian

If you have a dope or enamal finish Turtle Wax and a lot of elbow grease works well.If any part of your finish is Urethayne/Poly-urethayne paint then you need to find out what type/brand it is and use only waxes or polishes for then brand only.

N44057 has a Superflight (Cooper) gloss finish. Previous owner waxed it with Turtlewax. I have been using Nufinish (orange bottle) but have not done the whole plane. Nice thing about Nufinish is that is requires no buffing and is a liquid so it goes on and off easily. However it does not last "52 washings" or a year as they say. Lasts about three months.

        WAX WITH NO SILICONE!
You can NOT paint over sicone based/contaning waxes. Paint will NOT take on it!
There is a product out thee called "Restore" do not use it on fabric airplane.
        The result is nice but?
I use Mother's on mine and to the best of my knowledge there is no silicone in it or in Turtel wax, READ the Lables.

The Best I have ever found is called Hi-Tone Glaze - I have used it on fabric and everything else. You just spray or wipe on and wipe off. It is great liquid carnuba wax.
