  • N96924 Returns to the Air

After twenty months of restoration and with a borrowed prop, our 1946 BC-12D returned to the air yesterday morning!

It was the first time that I saw air beneath her wheels and the feeling was great. She climbed great with one person and also did a very respectible job with two of us full-size pilots out of Mid Valley Airpark, New Mexico, Elev. 4850 ft. (I'll post performance numbers later.) Just have to tighten up the tail wheel linkages to give more postive wheel control on the ground and start getting lessons and experience toward the tail wheel endorsment.

Thanks to my partners, Ray and Bruce, our IA, Gene and all those here in New Mexico for helping her get into the air. A special thanks to everyone on this site for helping this restoration to go to completion by answering all the questions that I've had along the way. You're a great bunch of folks. And the Taylorcraft is a great plane!
