Thanks everyone for the information on telephone numbers etc. I called Sonny today and had no response as of yet.

I did call Aerospace Welding in Minneapolis and talked with Charlie. Have to send in my old exhaust and he said about a 14 day turn around. That is if it fits after you get it back and not have to send it in for adjustments.

Somewhere between 900 and1150 seems to be the price with the heat shroud extra at 650.

The next step is to get the thing off the airplane... BIG JOB!

You might be better with Sonny and Univair . Cost would be less. Sonny has just had surgery on his foot, so be recouping. Try e-mailing him and call again, leave a message. You can use my name (may not help tho. LOL)

Went to work today to remove exhaust system from the bird. What a job, however when I got the shroud off and took a close look at the system it turns out not to be to bad. The tail pipe that rusted through turns out to be and extension that someone had put on and welded to the existing system. I think I can do the same thing but use a SS pipe and have it last for some time. Going to have my IA look at it and get his suggestion on doing that or going with a new SS system. I have been able to e-mail Sonny and looks like I would go with him if a new system is needed.

If it ain't broke . Don't fix it. If you can use your existing system, I would do so. Then when needed change it. The good thing about Sonny's system ios it is in two parts and the engine does not need to be removed.

I have been a bit under the weather, and haven't been able to work as much as I would like to on my T-Craft, but as soon as I am able, back there and get it flying again. Getting anxious. Really miss going up when I want to.

You DON'T have to remove the engine from the plane to remove the one piece exhaust system. When we modified the one piece exhaust on Manu Sina to a two piece system, we removed the lower two mount - fuselage bolts completely, and loosened the upper two mount - fuselage bolts to where the nuts were 4 or 5 turns shy of coming off the bolts. Then, I grabbed the prop close to the hub, and lifted the front of the engine as high as it would go, while my friend Jim worked the exhaust system free. After that, I cut the crossover at its midpoint, welded a slip fitting to one side of it, fabricated a heat muff that covered the joint, (what the people that I got the plane from were using was a length of stovepipe that was held together by hose clamps).
Now the system looks better on, and if I need to work on a single cylinder, I only have to remove half of the exhaust to perform the work.

Tried a search on Barnstormers for Sonny Porch but no joy. Does he have anything for O-145 Lycomings? Or just for Continentals?

Looking for a set of exhaust clamps. TKS -

Welded an extension on the tail pipe and reinstalled shroud. Soon to be back in business.
