I removed my airspeed indicator a 0-300 MPH to replace it with a more realistic 0-160 MPH model from my 1940 bc-65 project. My indicated airspeed in my BC-12D-85 was reduced by 10 MPH. The pitot system is different on my 1940 bc-65....could this be the cause of this discrepancy? Or does the instrument just need calibrating?...Anything else that could cause this?

Re: New (OLD) Airspeed Indicator
Time to whip out the hand held GPS and make a two way run.
Mine checks out 8 mph optimistic at top and dead on at stall. I suspect the location of the static "port" in the wing has something to do with it as two airspeed indicators gave the same results in my -85.
Don't know about airspeed indicators, but other gauge tolerances are a percentage of full scale, usually with an additional + or - a fixed number. Example plus or minus 2% of 300 + or - 2 mph, for a total of + or - 8 mph acceptable error. A 160 would be 2% of 160, ect. (likely a smaller error.)
My experience with Tcarts is that the pessimistic one is probably still too optimistic.
A two way run with a GPS is the way to go.
