  • Finding My Dad's Plane

Can you track a plane by N number if it is no longer registered with the FAA? My Dad flew a T-Craft (maybe a '46 model) while he lived in the Panama Canal Zone in the mid-60's. Tail number N96442 (maybe)... he says the years have made the n number a little fuzzy, but he'll dig out his logs later to check..... The number isn't registered today.... so maybe it's not still flying.

    Any input appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Mike

Did you try a world-wide search at Landings.com or thru AOPA?

I've taken a quick look at the international databases, but I would assume that if it were registered today in another country, it would have a reg. # for said country..... the last number we have was from it's US registration while flying in the Panama Canal Zone, a US territory. Perhaps it's still there, but now with Panamanian Number.....

Is there a database of registration numbers that have lapsed.... by aircraft crashes, or simply being taken out of service?
