  • "Quick" release wings

    Hi everyone.
I live second tier lakefront, and am considering building a hanger home for my new wife and my "other Lady."

I have heard stories of a few of you whom have modified the tcraft to allow the wings to fold back on the fusealage for small storage places. Does anyone have and information?pix of this sort of a thing?

Other thought is to replicate russ wingers hanger in Kenai, which is a 30 ft door opening, (two car garage) with a removable center post....slick!

And, I found morels at glacier creek on the north, east side of Tustemena lake for the alaska tribe. Soft sand, but do able....my first truely remote beach landing....and no bears, just tracks.........................

    Re: "Quick" release wings

I personally do not believe that the Taylorcraft design is suitable for folding wings. You would have to overcome too many problems and bad geometry. The Kitfox and other folding wing airplanes have the struts attach to the fuselage just below the REAR spar, not the front like the T-craft. You would have to do a lot more engineering and re-design than you really want to.

My guess is that you could spend far less money building or modifying your garage/hangar to allow the T-craft to slide in sideways.

    IMHO,
