  • Remind me of the oil pressure range please

Well, we found someone to take the beast up, and the pilot found her to fly beautifully. I'll get my first chance with her on Saturday afternoon.

One thing caused him some concern. He said the oil pressure went down to 20 psi (sorry, I don't recall if he said that was at idle or what; I know.. it was important, but I was in the middle of something when he called and anyway, I'll see for myself in two days).

Can anyone tell me the range of oil pressures I should expect with the A-65?
    Thanks, Mike

Ahh. I see on page 18 it says Oil pressure 10-35 psi and Temp 120-220^.
    That means we're probably OK.

Re: Remind me of the oil pressure range please

My understanding of the oil pressure range is 10 PSI minimum to 35 PSI maximum. But at cruise RPM, oil pressure should be 30-35 PSI. 10 PSI minimum at idle when engine is at operating temperature. Am I OK on understanding it this way? Does someone out there have another take on this?

        Mike,

Mine runs at 35 pounds and does not fluctuate with RPM settings. I know a lot of people experience variations at different throttle settings, but this is not normal. (this is usually a sign of bearing wear but the plane is still OK as long as you stay within the range)

            Continental Overhaul Manual: Specifications-

            Cruising: 30-40 Psi
            Idling: 10 psi minimum

Had an worn out engine that would drop to 10 at idle. It would also loose its oil pump prime if left set for more than a week.
The other engine I had and the one I have now show 30-35 at idle when they start up. I haven't noticed it getting low on them when hot, I'll have to check specifically.

My Oil pressure is 35 at Idle, but drops to 14 to 15 at idle aft flying for a while and engine is hot.
