  • Baffelling ????

I have remade my baffels, and looks good. I am finishing installing the "red rubber/silacon ? baffel material to the alum baffel.

Is this acceptial material for this ? Purchased from Spruce. It will be parteally laying against the cylinders. Will the heat be to great for this or is this the correct material ? It did say baffel material in the catalog. Also need to order another role as one was not enough.

    Lee,
The red silicone works good and lasts a long time. It does tend to tear, so make smooth-edged cuts if at all possible.

Thnaks Mark, have never used it before, but seen it on other aircrafts. Ran a little short, will work around and make certain I don't need somethng else before ordering. Always do that, than wished I had added other items in the same order(shipping cost).

Overcast and windy today, taking me forever to finish this annual, but I am certain it will get finished soon.

Read about the Texas Fly-In in Hondo (?) I believe. Is that near you?

        Lee:
I used the 1/8"X3" Iron Oxide Red with fiberglass mat from Spruce.

If you can use it, I have about 40inches left over that I can send you.

          Re: Baffelling ????

Thanks Bob, but I will get another roll, may need to do something else and may need that. Will put my chaffing material aroung the front of fuslage, where the cowl fits. Also need to mark and cut out for cowl bumps (installed the Slicks) Any good hints in order to get it right ?

Telling you it really is looking good, hope it all works as it should.lol

Haven't done anything today, have the lazy's. But will try an do a little later. Going to crawfish boil at friends grass strip tomorrow. (On our motorcycles, no aircraft to fly)

I am still looking for something with at least 85 hp to add to the T-Craft. Can be a T-Craft , Aeronca, Ercoupe, Luscombe, or what ever as long as it is good condition or project that I can get in good shape. FYI

Got the lazys today eh? It was 39 degrees here today and I had on my schedule to apply stripper to the right wing ribs then scrub with scotch brite and rinse with the garden hose. Needless to say i spent the day shopping for rubber gloves.
Some days ya get bunches done on the plane, other days...well, you have to keep you sanity or you'll never get the project done!
Best wishes on your project, Lee. I have the 40 inch piece of cowl seal here and I found another piece about 18", if you need 'em let me know and I'll send 'em along.
