  • Tank test

OK so I've got both tanks (main tank and wing tank)cleaned up and painted and spiffy looking. But before I reinstall them I'd like to test for leaks.

I looked them over good before painting and I didn't see any obvious sign of leaks like cracks or visible pin holes or stains. So maybe I don''t even need to test them?

Is there a simple test? I'm thinking I could just fill them with water and let them sit for a couple days on paper. See if I get any wet spots underneath.

    Re: Tank test

Hook up the outlet side of your shop vac. to them. Spray with soapy water or submerge in water to check for bubbles. Keep the air pressure going into the tank at a minimum to keep from distorting them, or worse making a new crack! Put a piece of tape over the outlet and poke a small hole in it for some of the air to escape if needed.
