  • Prayers requested for my gravely ill friend

    Tribe,
I just got a phone call from a fellow pilot friend of mine that the man that practically GAVE me the most fantastic plane I ever owned, the Taylorcraft is as I write this in critical condition in the Del Sol Hospital, in El Paso, Tx., with a failing liver.
I realize that the surest way to start a bruhaha on a web site is to discuss religion, but I KNOW that there are a bunch of Christians on this site. Jim would do the same thing for me if I were in his position, so I respectfully ask those of you to pray for spiritual strength, and physical healing for my close friend James Kemp.
Thank you all, and may GOD richly bless you. Sabrina

      Sabrina,

Don't worry about the bruhaha...we're Taylorcraft people and should look out for each other. (if we don't no one else will). I pray your friend comes through this.

We will be having a prayer & moment of silence here in Alliance at the Barber Airport for your friend at 11AM this morning . He sounds like a "true believer".

              Forrest,
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I called the hospital yesterday, and they had Jim stabilized. They believe that by the beginning of the week, he will be able to recieve visitors, if so, I'll go see him, and report back to all of you as to his condition.

Re: Prayers requested for my gravely ill friend

'matter of fact, the love of Taylorcrafts IS the official religion around here So anyone who flies Taylorcrafts, or puts one into the hands of someone like you, who actually cares, is a candidate for all of our prayers.

That's why somewhere, someplace, on Christmas eve you will find somebody out in the snow changing the bungees on a Taylorcraft, or last night during Passover you could have found me out there sanding some rust off of my struts

I truly hope your friend regains his health, and pass along ALL of our best wishes from the T-craft community.

By the way, if you wouldn't mind passing along another message out there in West TX on behalf of a friend of mine... I almost flew though the ELP area a couple months ago, and a friend of mine asked me if I stopped in West Texas airport to go find someone on the field named "Doc Willie" and say hi to him. My friend's name is Bill Reid, a rough old Army Huey driver who now owns a straight tail 182.

Re: Prayers requested for my gravely ill friend

                  To Bill Berle,
I sure will pass the info along on Friday when I go to "church" ( I also commune with GOD at 10,000 MSL).
                  To All,
My friend Jim is still in intensive care, but he has been stable since Friday.
It will be a long road for him, but I believe that he will be back in the sky before too long.
I am including a photo that he took of the two of us flying Manu Sina about five months ago. He opened the right side window, stuck the camera out the plane, and shot the photo looking the windshield from the outside.

                          Howdy Tribe,

Hey Bill, that old Huey driver named Bill Reide wouldn't have been in Bravo Co 227th AHB( 1st Cav-Phouc Vinh, VN) would he? If he is the same guy, he was the first AC that I had my first flight with when I got to Nam. I think he was from somewhere in New Mexico. You might inquire and let me know.

                          Many thanks
                          Best Regards

                            Mike,
It's Me. If you notice that the water bottle, my right hand, my sunglasses, and hat all are double images, it's because just as the photo was snapped, Jim smacked me in the back of the head. If you want to see one of he and I where no one is getting swatted, here is one of Jim, my friend Tee,(Therese), A French Candian Lear Jet pilot friend of mine named Claude, and myself at a German Restaurant one night when all of knew we were not going to fly the next morning.

                              Tribe,
Praise report on my friend Jim. It turns out that it was NOT his liver that failed, although it was working at lowered efficieney. He had an ulcer that was so bad that it had eaten a hole THROUGH his stomach. In doing so, it ruptured an artery in his stomach, he was passing blood out of both ends, and his heart stopped once in the E.R.. They found the problem, and fixed it, and now he is his ornery old former Marine self.
Your prayers were heard, and he is going to be fine. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all. He can't wait untill he gets out, heals a little, and the two of us can fly formation, he in his C-140, and me in the Taylorcraft. PRAYER WORKS.
