I'm finally back online (at home)

Hey guys,
I got my land lines hooked up last week, and am at my place in Salt Flats, Tx, for good now. No more checking the site every other week from my friend's place in El Paso. My hanger will be finished in June, then the Taylorcraft will be at home with me instead of at the West Texas airport.
The tips I recieved on killing everything on the runway except the grass WORKED, the runway was widened to 90 feet, and in June I'll have a hanger warming cookout complete with Gospel music. From then on, we will be having Saturday fly-in prayer brunches weather permitting.
I've REALLY missed being able to check this site on a daily basis, it's good to be back in the company of all of you.

It's VERY taildragger friendly. As I get the money, I'm going to get the guy with the grader to widen the runway to about 350 feet. It will not be quite as good as the old landing fields of the pre-war era, but if the wind is slightly quartering to the runway axis, it will not matter. I hope some of you guys can make it for the hanger warming party this summer, my BBQ ribs are as mean as my dobro pickin.

O.K. guys, the GPS numbers for the threshold of RWY08 are:
N31deg 45.133min
W105deg 24.524min
Land on 08, take off on 26. The RWY is slightly uphill to the east, there are short residential powerlines that parrellel the runway to either side, but they are far enough away that they provide NO problem. There are short residential powerlines about a half a mile to the East of the eastern end of RWY 08. Anyone game?? Let me know you are coming, and I'll have the coffee on when you land

Salt Flat, Texas is just a stone's throw West of Wink -- everybody knows where that is . It is just a tad South of Guadelupe peak, the highest point in Texas and upon which sits a monument to aviators that have crashed. Salt Flat is just a bit North-West of the Delaware mountains which can be quickly recognized by the huge windmill farm (which is owned by a large British company, and I really don't know HOW they get that electricity all the way over there and whattheheck good is 120 volt to them anyway ) Salt Flat is like a miniature Bonneville salt flat. It was mined by Indians, Spaniards, and Texans for the salt (what else ) It was the site of much bloodshed when some fellas thought they had exclusive rights to the salt and tried to fight off everyone else (historical marker on roadside also says this.) A short drive West from Salt Flat is Hueco Tanks where there are extensive petroglyphs and a stopping point for the Overland Stage line. Don't wait too long for the stage, it is faster to just fly out of El Paso International.

To Ken: Phill is fine, I still have my Taylorcraft, my RV-3, and my ultralight there untill I get the hanger built.
To Mark and all others: I am west of the salt flats, 3/4 of a mile south of 62-180, and 3/4 of a mile west of the southbound turnoff for Sierra Blanca. Flying to the Hudspeth VOR will get you close. I'm actually almost in between the Salt Flat and Hudspeth VORs. Untill I let you guys know, there is no hanger, tiedowns ONLY and a fairly constant breeze out of the west to the south west.

Wow... another guy who has owned a T-craft AND an RV-3! You got the best of both worlds, pal, and TRUST me do not ever sell either of those airplanes! The RV-3 is hands down the sweetest flying airplane ever built. The T-craft is the classiest. Keep 'em!! I sold my RV-3 and have kicked myself ever since. Then again, I also sold three T-crafts previously as well...

Sorry to hear about your temporary loss of sanity when you sold your RV-3. Mine has an O-320, and all the airframe speed mods on it as well. I got it for 10,000 dollars from a friend who lost his medical. When I got it, I got the plane, two spare canopies, (one with the frame), a spare set of gear legs, spare motor mount, spare upper and lower cowl, and spare speed mod kit, ALL NEW in the crates.
