  • Fabricing over wing tank

I have just completed installing the right wing tank and I see that when I apply the bottom wing fabric it will touch the "V" sump section close to the root rib. I see no way around this. Is this normal? Can anyone e-mail me a picture of the bottom of the wing showing the wing tank area? The plane is a 1941 BC-12. A-65-8 engine.
Also, is it permissible to have "any" dents in any of the 4 wing struts. My partner says yes but I say NO...The dents are the size of a nickel and are 1/8" deep.
Thanks much for any help, Ron Schaumburg, Illinois

    Re: Fabricing over wing tank

sometimes that happens when the "felt pads" on top of the spar are not thick enough. I would re adjust the tank , see that the drag wires go through in the middle. OR " bonk" the tank in a little, sometimes guys give it too much air pressure testing the tank and expand it a bit. I do not not like the tank touching as it will look bad in the future. Your IA or A&P should be able to answer about "dents" . Usual answer is NO . however if they are far off the neutral axis maybe they will be okay.
