  • Wing covers

Snow ice and sunshine is not good aeroplanes sitting out side.
Does anyone has a suggestion for a good material to make wingcovers from.
Now what else does the T-craft need?

      Re: Wing covers

I have covers from Bruce's custom covers in CA. They are great. I have complete fuselage and wing and tail covers. I think the complete set was about 1700, the wings are about 500 of that.

        Len,

Sunbrella is the stuff. I have Kennon covers, about $550 for wings and stabs. They didn't fit when I first got them, and I had to send them back. They are ok now. I like them and they are less hassle to get on and off than getting my plane in and out of the hangar. I don't think I'll hangar again.

Len - You can use a made-for-home-use sewing machine. The trick is to be at floor level with the machine and reduce the floor-to-fabric friction by putting cardboard on the floor; otherwise you will pull the needle sideways. SUNDANCE fabric is probably worth what you pay for it, but it is expensive. I'd recommend figure your cost of materials and then see the cost differential between DIY and paying for them. I bought a cover that covers the canopy, glass and doors for about $300. Good, but a pain to put on in even the slightest wind - Mike
