A friends Clipwing Taylorcraft pics

A friend of mine recently bought a "Clipped T" . The conversion was done in the early 50's and it was STC'd . The airplane has a C-85 with starter and a standard carb and oil . (No inverted).
Also , The plane has just the 12 gallon fuse tank and the original control wheel . It's a real doll ! I will get some more history on this airplanes conversion info .

I saw that a couple of years ago for sale on Barnstormers. I recall that the fuselage had been shortened as well as the wings clipped, but remained registered in the standard category somehow

am glad you mentioned the shortened fuselage (I walked around the plane and something didn't seem right ) . I looked up the N number and it is in the Standard classification . It looked about like the size of a PA-15,17 .
I have been a longtime T-craft lover both long wing and clipped . This one here is a new find for me and quite unusual .

That aluminum hinge looking mess hanging down is for holding the door open according to the owner . When I first saw the thing hanging down , I thought it might be some kind of stall strip . My L-2M had stall strips on the inside leading edge .
It just seems peculiar to me . I don't think the FAA would go for this conversion nowadays imo .
