  • Bungee cord removal tool

I had posted some of this earlier but here's three pics of a slick bungee cord removal tool a local pilot/mechanic (George H.) made. It's a foreign car jack (Volvo 240 244 245 140 160 122 Car Jack Lift - OEM - #1255608) that normally has a side arm that slips into a receptacle along the running board for changing tires. To the cutoff arm is fastened a chain and a portion of a wire rope cable thimble sized to fit around the bungee.

A pin is threaded into the jack's base and inserted into the Taylorcraft truss holes. The jack's arm is lowered and the curved thimble inserted under the cord below the upper attachment on the truss. The chain is then drawn up which pulls the thimble under the cord, and then lifts the cord off of the upper attachment. It just snaps into place between the cord and truss' arm. Once lifted up and off the truss the cord is lowered and removed. I use it to install floats.
