A good friend bought a l 2 that needs some TLC so we cut the fabric off the first wing today original spars with factory tags on them a little bad wood on the bottom of the aileron cove on 4 ribs but all in all good shape.

Painting is up-in-the-air for all of these depending upon year, (and they were very plainly painted). Most were all olive drab, some olive drab with grey under the fuselage. National insignia were also different depending upon year. None of them served overseas and none had invasion stripes. They were mostly used for training down at Fort Sill, etc. for artillery training and some for the Civilian Pilot Training Program.
Mine was painted by the original restorer based on a scheme invented by Dick Huish. He did at least one as a squadron hack for the 4th Fighter Group. Mine had been painted similar. Dick told me this in-person many years ago. It was a nice looking scheme but totally incorrect for an L-2. An L-2M that Dick restored is owned by a friend of mine at the airport and done in overall olive drab with grey under the fuselage. There are the typical Army Air Force fuselage markings indicating serial number and fuel requirements, etc., as well as other minor markings on other parts of the aircraft, all done in black.Cheers,
