I was surfing the web this morning and came across this on an insurance site. Anyone know anything about the crash? Is the pilot ok? It looks like a really bad one.

Re: Clipped Wing Tcraft crash?
As we see that happened in 03 & the FAA took about a year to make the finding. The fuel system is quite simple and plain . It does require that two valves be on to fly more than a few minutes. Header & main supply. I got calls at the time. I have other comments in reserve..... byeTaylorcraft Foundation, Inc

1. Have you ever bid on salvage? Any luck?
2. From the description: "both wings damaged, engine & propeller damaged, fuselage destroyed with tail section still in tact" what could one do with the remains?
3. You got a guess on what a winning bid might have been?

Re: Clipped Wing Tcraft crash?
Yep- it does take the NTSB (not FAA) a long time to complete the report. That is something that has bugged me since I went to work for the FAA- we do not really get involved in determining the cause, the NTSB does. Our job is to determine if regulations were violated. We do however work really closely with the NTSB- many of their inspetors are not experienced mechanics or pilots so I always try to stick with the case until completed. A large aircraft accident normally takes years to complete. I noticed the report from the Airbus in 2001 that had the tail seperate has just recently been published.
I have been hard at work on a shop- after that is done I plan to work on the airstrip so in a few months it resembles an airport- it is only 1200 feet but it will be mine! Our house will be done at the end of February, this apartment is tough with 3 kids and a dog.
I sure hope everyone has a great Christmas!Eric Minnis

Re: Clipped Wing Tcraft crash?
Mike- I have bid on salvage but never won. That one looks to be really bad. I would think that engine would be the only valuable item left if it is not damaged too bad. I would not personally bid on it- it just looks too damaged to be re-built. I do plan to compile my Tcraft stuff and try to start selling some parts as soon as the house is done. I was in my storage building and found that I still have a good bit of Tcraft parts. . . .it looks like this is the only way I will ever get another Tcraft as the new house/ farm is taking all my $$.Eric Minnis
