  • Bungee tool arrrived

Dave made me a bungee tool and it arrived yesterday. My mechanic was impressed with the design and construction compared with the others he's used. We are very pleased.

It was a pleasure doing business with someone who does what they promise for a fair price in an agreed upon time frame. That 's rare today and compliments are due.

Now if some one could make a bungee removing tool that would help me a lot. Every spring I have to cut off a $100 worthy of bungees to but my floats on.

A tool for that would help us float folks. In the meantime my mechanic suggested using his extendable arm portable engine hoist. Stick it in through the door and tie a nylon strap around one end of a bungee. Lift it off the frame ear. Repeat.

That might be worth a try next spring. The straight floats come off next month and will be for sale. I bought amphibs if the feds will let me put them on.

We did try it on one bungee before installing floats. There was room to get up next to the fuselage and stick the arm inside. Tie the gear to the lift if it starts to tip the plane. My bungees needed replacement so he cut off the rest. We used some nylon strap like comes with ratchet tie downs. Just cut off a piece and tied it around the bungee then hooked it with the lift. Once raised enough swing the lift arm sideways and release the arm tension.
