Finally got my Tcraft done. Flew it today for the first time. Left wing a little heavy. Took it to another airport as I am going to tear my strip up tomorrow. I haven't flown a taylorcraft much, but hear people say they float. Landed in 200 feet or so, 11 mph wind down the runway plus I installed vortex generators. Oil ran 190 degrees, 85 out side temp.

Re: Done
I keep the Skyhawk at vys. I have degenerative disc disease in my back so it's not comfortable flying old airplanes. The a65 only has an hour on it, so that is why it ran 190.TF# 702 Don't be afraid to try something new. Remember amatuers built the ark, professionals built the titanic!

Re: Done
I've been through Peru before with my '43 L-2B and my first '46 BC-12D. So I take it the Taylorcraft will be at Peru, too?
My mother-in-law tore up their beautiful strip a few years ago. I could have killed her. They also had a big pole barn/hangar.
I understand the disc problem, I had three removed in my neck two years ago, replaced with cadaver bone and a really cool looking titanium piece and what look to me like wood screws from the hardware store.Cheers,
Marty

Re: Done
I have been to Hartenbower several times for the fly-in breakfasts. Hope to see you sometime.
I remember leaving Peru after fueling coming from Poplar Grove. Poplar Grove had a Liaison Plane Fly-In back in 2007. I flew directly over Hartenbower after leaving Peru when going home.Cheers,
Marty

Re: Done
CONGRATS on getting the T-craft finished and flying. Bring picts to OSH if you can. Sorry to hear about the closing of your strip. End of a era. I know what you are going thru with the back trouble , I someday might have to make that same decision. Hope to see you at OSH.
