I ran into this web site through one of the USENET news groups. It's kind of sad that this historic club doesn't actually own a Taylorcraft (at least according to the web page).
I agree with you. My ship, NC33939, was used by the club from the day it lst flew, May, 1941, till 1944. I sent them a picture last summer, they said they plan to get a Tcraft when they can afford it. bobp
Glad too! briefly this is the oldest continually operated Flying Club in the US or maybe the world. The web site is fairly new and we will link it when they get the History correct. It started in Bradford Pa. then Lock Haven, then Alliance Ohio with C.G. giving the prototype ser# 25 Model A to the Club as their ship. My father's certificate of membership was #7. many folks have soloed that ship. Then the factory donated many ships to the Club over the years. B & D models ... I have the lists and will be doing a CORRECT history fo the Club very soon. I have the Grand-Son of Sandy Slifkin ( former test pilot) , Kyle Devies, giving us a hand with an updated history to be put on both web sites. they had the last Taylorcraft back in the 50's. Then a PA-12 , a Cessna 140 etc.. till now they are all low wing Piper stuff. When they were based here at the Barber Airport they had the PA-12 & three club ships N 96788, N 96796 & N 96797 NC of course back then. This story will continue.
