Re: Woo Hoo!!!
Ahhh! Creature comforts. We rarely deal with sustained outages in my area. If we do I am ready since I purchased a diesel generator that will power the whole house. I also have a transfer switch for convenience and safety. The outfit that I purchased from had several construction/light pole generators on wheels in preparation for the proposed Pebble Mine in southwest Alaska. They had been sitting for a couple years when I saw their ad. Got a deal on it and the rest they had went fast.
I am sure you don't mind roughing it Kevin but only when it is your decision. Glad your are back with it.Jim Hartley

Re: Woo Hoo!!!
Yeah, I've got a small generator that we were able to run off and on enough to keep stuff in the fringe safe and run a couple lights and electric skillet for cooking....and done some cooking on the grill(that was cold). Played a lot rook, monopely, and other games with the kids by coal oil light and all kinds of fun stuff. It's actually been really good to get that kind of quality time with the kids.....it would've been perfect had I been able to take a shower, lol.Kevin Mays

Re: Woo Hoo!!!
Sounds very much like the life at my grandparents home in the hills South of Clarksville TN, back in the late 40's, early 50's.
Oil lamps, wood stoves, cistern water off the roof (best I ever tasted), battery radio to listen to the Grand ole oprey, feather beds: I was just a kid and remember it very fondly. That was a really different time.
