As most know I sold my Taylorcraft last spring. I have come to really regret that decision! Oh well, such is life. So I'm back in the market for a nice tcart if I can find one I fancy. This time around though I really want the extra horsepower of a C85 or O-200 and a big baggage. I'd also like hydraulic brakes, tundra tires and a skylight but any combination I'd at least look at. So if anyone knows of a Taylorcraft looking for a new home please let me know!

Re: Getting the urge again!
You've probably seen this, although I don't know about the price. Seems a bit high to me

I'm not arguing with your opinion, just curious what you feel is a price point of value?
I guarantee one thing, it's cheaper to buy it done than do it later unless your goal is fixing and not flying. Parts and labor don't decline.
Plus, what they ask and what value they get aren't the same.

New trucks here are $40-60K, cars $25 and up. So the issue isn't price for most in Alaska but the availability of borrowed money, which in turn begets insurance. And there goes the piggy bank for something that sits more than it moves.
The reason I asked above about the fair price, is that given the current market for bush aircraft like PA-11, 12, 18, 20/22, Citabria/Scout (typically $50-150K), the Taylorcraft is a comparative value. Not quite the bush performance but adequate if useful loads are monitored on normal density altitude days. Parts are an issue but Owner Built can help if OEM data is available.
I traded a PA-11 for my Taylorcraft so can't offer a selling price. But in the end I'll have close to $50K with wheels, skis, floats, recent rebuild, and many mods including a C-85>0-200 engine. I use these things to fly to remote areas. If flying involves more docile pursuits on wheels off improved strips then half that with less power would seem fair enough.

Hope it works out... the old saying: If it flies, floats or ????? it's cheaper to rent than own it".
