  • Snow, snow, and more snow!!

We just hit the 12" mark here in east kentcuky(west liberty,9I3). Snow started aböut 6am so thats an average of an inch an hour. Temps have been around 10-12 degrees all day with winds around 8-12.
I know it doesn't even come close to comparing to y'all in the north eastern states but it's a bunch for us all at once. I'm enjoying it so far but I'm sure it will get old fast. Luckily it's a cold dry snow so it hasnt really affected the trees or power lines. Y'all be safe out there and stay warm.

If you saw my comments on FB to another 'southerner' recently I noted it is about time you guys enjoyed the fun, too!

Be careful and enjoy. Hope it doesn't stick around for you too long or you'll need to invest in skis.
    Cheers,
    Marty

Might have to prop up the roof trusses inside the hangars if it keeps snowing maybe. Building specs. for that area might not be engineered for that kind of loading. Just a thought. I wonder how many hangars on the east coat will collapse with snow load? Seems to be a coming problem over there now on some of the larger buildings, as seen on the news tonight.(east coast)

            I agree with Mike.

Hangar roof came down on a Mooney a few months ago.

            $$$$

Get a Roof Rake to get snow off the roof.

In many states the FBO is not responsible for your aircraft when a hangar collapses.

Mid 40's here in NW MT...hahaha! No snow in sight except where there's lots of shade. I wish we did have a couple feet! We can always use the moisture!

And here in New Mexico mother nature dusts a little on the mountains and the sun melts it off as fast as it comes down. Current stats are that New Mexico currently only has 60%-70% of normal snowpack so we are still in a drought. I'm not looking forward to this spring's fire season. Could be worse though, we need to pity our brethern out in California and parts north along the coast. Reports have the Sierra's snowpack at only 15% of normal.

So Y'all feel free to send some of that snow out west. We'll try to send some of the sunshine back your way in return.

It does make for nice winter flying out this way 'though.

It's 7 degrees and we've got 3 feet on the ground here in western New York. Fun on skis.

In the low 70's here in the central valley, California for the last 2 weeks. I was doing some light work outside and sweating in a T-shirt yesterday. Feel for the guys in that heavy snow country. We simply haven't had a winter for the last few years and it is getting really DRY out here. Everything is green right now because of one rainy week, but it is going to go dead-arid-brown grassland pretty quickly.

Fantastic advice. I have a C175 sitting in my garage that had a roof come down on it. Will cost more to fix it than it is worth. Anyone need parts?
