Unless something has changed I don't believe you could call it 'ideal'. I also don't think it would be a life-changing experience to catalog it, etc. Just my humble opinion as a first-hand observer.

And again I reiterate, (nothing against Terry), I do not believe these items should be purchased and then disseminated by a for-profit entity.

Dave, you link does not work.
    Thanks Marty I fixed it;

      Dave,

I had the second link you posted set aside to show you after I saw your original link thinking it may be the same one. I was going to share it if that wasn't the one. Seems a year later and we are still in the same spot.
      Cheers,
      Marty

Re: Barber Airport Officially for Sale

        Marty,
No offense taken by me. I respect your opinion. I have not been to Alliance even though I lived fairly close for many years… never felt the need to go and I have no doubt it is as you say. Perhaps someone would be willing to spend the time and travel to sort things, but i find that volunteer help is rarely expeditious whereas ownership is incentivizing.
        Best Regards,

          Hi guys,

I think that for the future the first priority should be preserving the forum.

The forum has the most activity and benefit.

            Mark,

I think help has been offered but not sure if it has been accepted, fully. I wish I lived closer. It would have to be someone who is retired and could tackle it 100% with Forrest's approval. And I really do not know what all is there or what it would entail. There is an unknown to it that Forrest, as Hank puts it, is truly the 'index' to it all.

            Dave,

I wholeheartedly agree, the largest benefit for the masses is the Forum. It reaches more people every day than anything else could. Unfortunately, there is a need for the other 'stuff', by other tribe members.
            Cheers,
            Marty

              Marty,

I respectfully submit for your consideration this assertion; The "other stuff" has never been available to the tribe and therefore will not be missed and has really never been necessary. It may have been available for a hand full of people in the local area but has never been useful to the tribe in general. Many airplanes have been restored and maintained without it.

No malice intended, only making the point that pursuit of the "other stuff" may not be as important as we may think.

Interestingly the forum could have been used as an archive for FAQ and answers which would have supplied some of that "other stuff" I bet. I guess it just never got used that way.

              Dave

Re: Barber Airport Officially for Sale

When I read that you were interested in the purchase of the Taylorcraft assets from Barber airport it was apparent to me that you would be the right person to acquire them, I applaud you for your willingness and interest. We are all interested in its preservation .Way to go Terry!

Re: Barber Airport Officially for Sale

I have been away for awhile now. I have retired and will soon begin to rebuild my Tcraft. Are there any updates on Forrest? His site seems not to have been updated since 2014. I remember he was having some difficulties. I hope all was worked out ok. Is Barber field still for sale? Looks like it may be.

                    Mike,

I think Forrest may wander in here now and then but does not really participate in the conversations. He is more active on Facebook. I think things have calmed down of late but I need to call him and find out.
                    Cheers,
                    Marty

Thanks, Marty. I was hoping things had settled down and doing well.

Re: Barber Airport Officially for Sale

I looked at Forrest's facebook page. He seems to be quite active. I did not see anything recent on Barber airport or the Taylorcraft Foundation. Would you know if he is still active at the airport or the Foundation? His pictures seem to to show show him looking and doing well. I am happy for him.

I think the Foundation is pretty much dead. He still lives there and is still present for consultation and I would assume parts. Just make sure you call between the hours he provided on his webpage.
                          Cheers,

Thanks for the update Marty. I sure hope the parts and drawings are able to be saved. Forrest has so many things that are important to the Taylorcraft owners.
