C-120 or C-140 airframe parts?

A friend's 120 failed annual a bit ago...I tried to convince her to say goodbye to the Wichita product and promised to find her a nice T-craft, but no luck convincing her yet.

That being said she needs both upper door posts and a carry-through spar. Anybody know of a forlorn (aren't they all ;-) ) 120 or 140 fuselage hiding out in the weeds or behind a hangar? Other than that it's a nice little 120 and she's pretty attached to it. Hate to see a lady taildragger pilot grounded.

Figured quite a few of us frequent the kind of strips something like this might turn up. Thanks folks!

I have a 1975 C150 fuselage that is going to the scrap yard if that will work.

there is a 120 or 140 that has been sitting around my home drome for as long as I can remember (20sih years). The wings are in one hangar and the fuse in another. The C85 was taken off a few years ago.
Do you want me to ask about it?
It's basically complete. But I doubt that it would ever be airworthy again.

Thanks for the replies fellas. She's a nice gal...devoted to her aeroplane, and this deal has really got her down. Like all of us working on a tight budget...

As far as C-150 parts, I think the early 150 carry-through spars interchange with the 120 and 140, but not the upper posts.

Tim, That'd be great if you could ask. She likely doesn't want to end up with a whole airframe (fuselage might be ok though), but if you have time and opportunity please check it out and see what they have to say.

Wag aero has carry throughs for not too much, I forget the exact price but I changed one last fall. Not too sure about the upper door posts, but is there an STC updgrade similar for the lift stru reinforcement. Is she wanting just those parts or a serviceable airframe? I may know where a serviceable airframe is, that needs paperwork.

I think this is Terri's airplane you are talking about. Sad, she did everything right and still got shafted. I really hope she can find a way to get it back in the air soon.

Hi fellas,

Sorry about not being on for a bit...been on wildfires pretty steady as of late...the Northwest is kinda on fire about everywhere you look east of the Cascade mountains.

Yes it is Terri's plane...she's pretty bummed about the whole deal as would be expected. I might've found a fuselage but haven't been able to go look 'cause of the doggone fire situation.

Her carry-through is nominal, but might as well be dealt with at the same time. Upper door posts are the big bugger. I remember helping a friend with the lower doorpost reinforcement stc some years back...it was easy and cheap...not so with the uppers.

I think she would consider any option that isn't terribly prohibitive. They have a strong EAA chapter at her home field so hopefully some of the members will assist. She's the kind of aeroplane-gal who's devoted and is a pleasure to help out.



Here's the numbers as far as I can ascertain...I'm not all that zeroed in on the 140-120 stuff.

--Door posts must be from Cessna Model 120 or 140 aircraft, serial number greater than 8800 or a Cessna 150.

--Some 150/152 may have same part number.

--The door post part numbers are 0411867-2 &-3.

--Forward carry through spar part number 0411131.

I'm in and out of cellular range during fire season, but will try to check in more...a PM would be fine or I'll put my cell/text number in the members section.

Sorry, but the 120 that has been hanging around our airport forever was finally sold last year. So it is not available.

I just bought 1.75 Cessna 120s. All I wanted was the prop, but he wouldn't part it out so I ended up buying the project(s). I have two fuselages and one of them has kind of been cannibalized, so I'll see if it has what she needs.
