Hello all, Trying to solve a few issues on N43319, '46 BC12D, A-75.
Had a few Stromberg problems that are dealt with, and now my left mag is dropping off. SFRN-8 on the left, running REM40E's on the bottom plugs. Running old C26 plugs on top. She runs just grand on the right mag and the old C26 plugs.
I have lots of extra bits lying around, so in the interest of economics I've been going through my options. Most of my 40E plugs are testing beyond spec on resistance. The wires on the left mag aren't all that great either, condition-wise.
That being said I have a couple of SF4RN-8 mags off of an A-65 that I was gonna have serviced. They each have nice low-time prestolite wires with the proper ends for C26 plugs. I happen to have a few extra C26 plugs lying about as well. So, can anyone think of a reason not to change the 40E plugs and their wires out and install the original-style and the C26 plugs? Since I have the parts and it doesn't take much effort I was thinkin' from an analysis standpoint it makes since before pulling the mag and opening it up.
As far as comm goes I have an antenna up top of the port wing root with a good ground plane, plumbed down to my old King KX99 handheld. The unshielded plugs on top haven't been causing me any grief on the occasions I've needed a radio, so going that route on the left mag won't likely be a concern either...mebbe.
Any input would be appreciated...
