  • Parts in LaPorte, Texas

I know that I have posted this in the past. But it came up again in Chuck's post about his his new doors.
There is a treasure trove of TCraft parts in Laporte, Texas.
You might search the forum for my other posts that have a rough list of the things that he has.
But here are a few pictures that might reveal something that you are looking for. I have more pictures.

I believe I was looking for a fuselage at the time. THere was one there that was straight that I was considering. Several others were bent in spots.

I sure would like to have a set of those wheel pants. I wonder if those are metal or fiberglass?

Those all look like fiberglass, Kevin. Too bad.

I have a boot cowl (pressure cowl) for a '40 BC / fabric doors / large tack type in Mooresville, Indiana if you are interested. You would probably have to come get it as shipping would be prohibitive. $100.00. If you are interested, I can try to get some pictures. Keep in mind it is at the hangar 22 miles from here and LOTS of snow which hampers access.

I had glass wheel pants on my Taylor craft. They were done so well it was impossible to tell from 2 feet away. They had the metal strip down the middle, the stainless little mercury wings on the bolt holes. Very nice. The price of the originals is absurd.

I have a set of originals but they are a little rough(nothing I can't fix). Also, the faberglass are a little lighter and easier to repair when the start getting a little wear & tear. Would like to have a fiberglass set if anyone has any...... No, I don't not want to sell my originals.

                    Re: Parts in LaPorte, Texas

A FAA representative in FTW had indicated the Taylorcraft Type Certificate had been bought by a company in
south Texas and was opening back up the "FACTORY" type taylorcraft.com in URL they also say they are taking
email while the web site is being prepaired [email protected]

                    Anyone heard anything about this??

                      Re: Parts in LaPorte, Texas

This has been the rumor for awhile. It was bought by a Mexican consortium years ago, I have posted past info about this. Hopefully the FAA guy is right, (???), and something is finally moving along. Forrest, who claims to be 'in-the-know' about this stuff has been AWOL for so long from this site with little to no information about anything. It is always a wait and see attitude anymore. http://vb.taylorcraft.org/showthread...ight=year+plan
