    Re: Soloed today

I'm going to drain the header tank and throw some straight 100LL in. That sure would be nice if that's all it was.

      Re: Soloed today

I spent 9 hours working on things today and learned a lot. The AP/AI on my field is a turbine guru now, but he helped me a bunch and it wasn't anything that was suggested. It really was the strangest thing with the points on the left mag.

What kind of magnetos are you running? You might want to think about changing the condensor out as well. When the condensor gets weak they tend to burn up points.

Bendix scintilla sf4? Even though we got it going again, nothing was replaced. I'm going to take it in for annual next month and hopefully parts are available yet. I need to talk to my AP/AI next week and see what he says. I'd also like to replace my mag harness while we are at it because my old harness is starting to look a little scabby.

Were the points starting to get burnt up, and you lightly sanded them and now it works great? The condensor absorbs the energy coming from the coils so that the points dont arc when they open and interupt the electricity. When the condensor goes bad they start to arc and 'burn up' the points. Glad you got it going, hope your weather allows for some flying, my chances look pretty bleak over the next week+
