  • F19/F21 Cockpit Size

I have a gentleman who is 6'4" and did not like the fit in a BC-12 with dropped sling, etc. He was wondering if the F19/F21 had a larger cockpit for a taller person. Thanks in advance!
    Cheers,
    Marty

      Re: F19/F21 Cockpit Size

I bought a wrecked F19 a few years ago and am using parts in my BC12D.
The cockpit size, layout, seat, and everything is identical. So no help there.
I owned a BC12D more than 45 years ago and am 6 ft tall. It worked fine and I never had any problem.
I am restoring a wrecked 12D that I bought a few years ago for the future if and when I have to go sport pilot.
Last weekend, I was visiting a friend with a BC12D and I tried to get in it the way I always did years ago. I could not get in it! My neck and back does not bend like they did 45 years ago!
I have to get in from the opposite side and kind of lay down on the seat and scoot over.
I did not realize this old age had caught up with me that much.

My F22A has a larger cockpit and the perspex roof panels give a great deal of light and much less of a "shut in feeling " The panels also give excellent upward vision of any aircraft above you. I am 6'2" and manage to fit into the cockpit without any problems but it doe's get "a bit cosey " with another large adult alongside!

The only problems I experience are having to peer under the wing root in the turn and getting my head sun burnt if I forget to wear a cap on the occasional summer days in the UK!
