    Re: Educate me on Ski's

I just so happen to have a set of 1500 Federals for sale from my F21. They have dolly wheels that you can taxis on (carefully) and they are rigged and have UHMW PE bottoms. Great shape. $900.00

      Re: Educate me on Ski's

this thread has had me thinking about having the tcraft on skis and how much work it is to fly in the winter. One of the hardest things is moving the plane in and out of the hanger. I made a set of "jacks" that use the airplanes wheels and tires and cam over to lift the skis off the floor. It can then be pushed around on the dry cement. It works, but if you aren't careful while lifting the plane, you can loose a few teeth if it gets away from you. I then built a set of rollers that works great to get the plane into and out of the hanger if you only have to move it 8 or 10 feet. I welded up electrical conduit, 3/4" rails, 1/2" rungs with 1" rollers over the rungs. I made it 5' long, and it works good.

I'll try to add a pic.

sorry, I guess that I am not smart enough to be able to figure out to add the picture. If anyone would like to see the pic, email me and I'll email it to you.

        Re: Educate me on Ski's

My Dad was going to fly and check the skis and pushed the throttle in. The tail came up to normal flight attitude. He realized what he did and chopped the power. Bang it came down and the main leaf broke. I don't remember the temp but I am sure that may have had something to do with it. It was my turn to say "I told you so..."

I bought 500 little 3" plastic wheels on E-Bay and made myself rolling pads like they use for unloading trucks, etc. Works great.
