AK Tribe...on May 17 as the new fallen snow steadily accumulates in my front yard it is with a heavy heart that I must announce the annual Skwentna Taylorcraft Fly-in is having its first ever weather postponement. The weather outlook is very poor through tomorrow afternoon. We will take another try at it on Sunday, June 2. I know some folks will likely be on floats by then, but if you are still on wheels stop by for a reindeer brat. Sorry mother nature threw us a pretty good curve ball this year, but we will regroup and try again once summer decides to actually begin!

Re: Skwentna Fly-In Postponed Due WX
Well Alaska Tribe...It seems the Skwentna Roadhouse is having their 2nd annual fly-in on June 2nd! From what I can gather, they are having a flour bombing competition at $25 per drop with the closest drop taking the pot, and a poker run that is $25 to buy-in. It also looks like they wanted an RSVP by May 25. Several of our brethren are not able to attend, so I see two possible options: 1) We can drop in on the Skwentna festivities and I can send them an email that some of us will be dropping in (they have always been very hospitable when we have our May fly-in) or 2) We can totally change the plan and head up to Talkeetna for lunch at the Roadhouse. Reply on this forum if you would like to do some flying this Sunday and have a preference. Bob Picard, Rod Hansen and Dick Smith...please chime in! Here is a link to the Skwentna Rodhouse webpage with info about last year's fly-in: http://www.skwentnaroadhouse.com/events.php I am open to either option but would probably lean more toward the Talkeetna idea because of the RSVP request...

Re: Skwentna Fly-In Postponed Due WX
Sorry for the confusion caused by the attached link. The 2012 fly-in was on June 9th. The 2013 Skwentna fly-in is on June 2nd. I think it would be fun to head up to Talkeetna, have lunch at the Roadhouse, and check in on Patrick's F-19 project. Then those that want to can swing by Skwentna after lunch. What do ya'll think?

Yes...the weather forecast has taken a decided turn for the worse in the past few hours. We'll see what it's doing in the morning and decide from there. If it is good up north we'll go to Talkeetna for lunch! If it is bad north, but good south we'll head to Anchor Point and have coffee with Bob and June Picard! If it's sloppy everywhere, we'll stay on the ground and look forward to the next time we can fly.
