Re: Who does everyone use for insurance.

    Well,
I did a lot of searching around on my own. Thought mine would be very high since I am a low time pilot. My wife works in insurance and it took her all of about five minutes to come up with a great deal. HMP insurance at 901-312-5300, ask for Angie . Mine runs 657 a year, full coverage policy. I don't remember all the numbers, but is covered as well as everyone else offered with quotes from 1200-2500.

I recall from a few years back that the insurance carriers lock your N number from further quotes from a second insurance broker for 30 days after the initial broker gets a quote.

In other words if you ask for a quote from boker "A" and he gets a quote from AIG then AIG will not give another quote to a different broker "B" for 30 days.

That may mess you up in getting the lowest quote quickly.

I checked prices with AOPA since I had used them for years for my 172. Since I am a low time Tailwheel pilot there costs were high and had allot of restrictions. Then checked AVEMCO, PIM, Falcon, and a few others I found from an internet serach,

AVEMCO won out. They beat AOPA's and others pricing with less stipulations and as you increase your hours they give you an incremental decrease in policy costs. They also give discounts for yearly flights with an instructor.

I am a low time pilot with 150 hours, 120 of that in a T-Craft 85 I use Avemco and have from the start. my Premium is currently 1100.00 a year for full coverage. There may be cheaper out there. The main reason I went with them was that it didn't matter where I was landing, I have a 1500 ft grass strip, and some insurance companies wouldn't cover me for an accident that occurred on an unapproved airfield. Their open pilot clause is also very good. I have no claims with them but from what people say they are easy to deal with. Also if you plan on flying on skis at all make sure your insurance will cover it. Good luck. I think you'll love your new plane.

My policy is with Ladd Gardner Aviation... and it's for rental and instruction, so it's a lot higher than most of the quotes I'm seeing here.
