    Re: whats it worth

    Eric,

Is it a Continental engine? Also, it makes a difference whether it is a 65 or a 75 HP. When you say it is experimental what exactly does that mean? From what you have included in your posting, I wouldn't think it would be worth very much at all. If you had receipts showing where the crank was yellow tagged or some other supporting documents it would be worth more. But if it was just assembled from a collection of parts someone had, and was not signed off by a mechanic, I wouldn't give more than $1500. Regarding the value of a rebuilt 65 or 75 hp, the same criteria applies. It is sort of like asking "how much is a Taylorcraft airplane worth", it depends on a lot of factors. I have been involved in aviation in one way or another since late 1972. The one thing I can say without reservation is that you get what you pay for. IF you want a good engine, I have an A65 with a flanged crank that has the cylinders off. I don't recall the times on the engine, but it has a log book. The cylinders are freshly rebuilt by Brown Aviation in Oklahoma. They are chromed.

      Re: whats it worth

it came from experimental plane and not much is legible on the data plate...no books no known times... it is a cont...the guy thought he had an o200 but it is not one fore sure... i dont visually know the diff between 65 and 75 but this is just not a o200...yes if i rebuilt it for sale i would have major parts yellow tagged but also debating about just getting it to sit in the corner until i find a steal of another plane in experimental category...in my head im thinking 100-200 as a gamble price

Probably not much since a nice mid/low time A65 can be had for $6k or less.
