Just a stock '39 BC-65. I used to do a dead stick aerobatic routine in it, but that's been a few years ago-Originally posted by N-43121 View PostAwesome flying, Andrew! Is your T a clip-wing, or stock? I wish I knew how to fly the graceful aerobatics, sure looks like fun.

Re: Video Clips
It helps if you understand how modern electronic camera shutters work, compared with "old fashioned" shutters.Originally posted by M Towsley View PostYou must have the smaller ND film over there across the pond, Rob, I can only find the bigger stuff over here. I would have to cut it down.
If you want to see strange prop effects, I took this with my Flip Video camera. Rotax 447 with two blade composite prop on my former Air Bike: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcdSX9AK3gQ
These new-fangled things (as seen on digital GoPro's, I-Moans etc) have no moving parts, so to reduce the "shutter" speed (of course there isn't a shutter), you have to fool the "aperture" into thinking that there is less light than it thinks it is receiving, to achieve the same light level. So the silly digital machine opens its "shutter" for slightly longer for each "frame" than it would otherwise do.
Funnily, that's exactly how old cameras used to do it, when the operator had control...now we have to fool these new-fangled devices.
So a good ND2 filter kids the electronics, it reduces the "shutter speed", and bingo! the prop artefacts reduce. To the human watching the final video, the light levels are the same (assuming a decent light level in the original footage).
Here's my GoPro 2 case with & without the ND2 filter:

Re: Video Clips
I purchased 1 foot square of ND film and punched circular discs out of it with a hole punch. $8 worth of ND film makes 1000 or more. What do I do with the rest?

Re: Video Clips
I've had the suction cup up to Taylorcraft VNE , but don't sue me if yours falls off: This is a Slingsby Firefly (the one that the US Airforce bought 150 of and then scrapped them because the instructors didn't know how to recover from a spin):Originally posted by M Towsley View PostThanks, Rod. Just wanted to know what you were using on the strut. I have several ideas but I am looking for something simple. I have a hard time hanging $200 based on adhesive or suction cups, though I am aware others are doing it.
Video is 8 minutes...just scoop a few frames from here & there; don't watch the whole thing.

Re: Video Clips
Buy some Neutral Density (ND) film and stuff it in the case (ignore the creases...they don't matter)Originally posted by skip View PostGreat Videos!
I am planning/wanting to put a GoPro on the Tcraft when its new wings go back on.
One question: Does anyone know how to filter/edit/sync the video so that terrible bent 7-bladed prop doesn't show up?

It gets rid of the propeller artefacts.

Marty,Originally posted by M Towsley View PostRod, great videos. I have a GoPro camera but haven't rigged a mount yet. What are you using? Thanks.
I bought a whole selection of mounts from the GoPro web site and am using almost all of them. Several are made with an adhesive that seems to work very well. For the shots from the strut, I am using the helmet strap mount and some electrical tape.

Re: Video Clips
It's from the "rolling shutter" on that type of video camera, also on most cell phone cameras. There are apparently ways to at least improve it, google "GoPro rolling shutter fix" , here's one answer:

Re: Video Clips
Skip,
I don't think you can. The best way is to keep the camera off of the prop or make it so just the corner of the scene is where the prop is. I want to mount mine off of a strut facing forward.

My computer has Windows Movie Maker on it for editing video, seems to work OK-
I used the tripod mount bolted to a small tab on the stabiliser
