I got a estimate from Tammy at AFS for the materials to cover a Taylorcraft. Including the fabric (ceconite) adhesives, primers, tapes, rib lacing cord, inspeciton rings, aluminum etch/cleaner, and poly topcoats etc. it comes to $1904.53.
That's for a white topcoat with (ugh!) yellow trim. Other color prices vary.
I called Tammy today with questions. She said: You can use the roller-tip method per the www.dawnpatrol.com website. But this sometimes results in too thick paint coat, they have a special method to correct this. Tammy warned that this method is not as fast as spraying.
They do not recommend a turbine type sprayer (like Axis). instead a good HVLP sprayer/air compressor works best for their system.
If you've never covered an airplane before she recommends that you take their "how to cover" class. The next one is Nov. 5-7 in Cashmere, WA.
