All- Ron Sawyer reports that the 23th Annual West Coast Taylorcraft Rendezvous at Columbia, California this year is only 1 month away, June 1-3rd. He also reports that Forrest Barber, President of the Taylorcraft Foundation and former Taylorcraft employee, is planning on attending and will be our special guest for the weekend. So mark your calendar now and plan to attend.... invite your friends as well.... all are welcome.
Plan on coming on Friday June 1st and stay as long as you like. A Fly-in camp ground with hot showers are available, no reservations required, plenty of space, with water and picnic tables. For people that want it, there are motels to stay in nearby... Columbia Inn 209-533-0446 is the best near the airport. Also there is Columbia City Hotel & Restaurant, 209-532-1479. A bit pricey but a fun place, historic, like right out of the movie High Noon.... part of it filmed there. Ron will help get you to and from the motel/hotel.
Food is a short walk to Patty Shack, which is a good place to eat. The Patty Shack restaurant near the airport, will handle our group for the Friday and Saturday night get togethers.
The fly-in has always been just a place for Taylorcraft pilots to get to "hangar fly". The town of Columbia is a State Park and just a short walk away and fun to see what it was like in the gold rush period where they set up a gold miner tent city with people in 1850's dress. No special day time activities are planned but mostly you'll want to relax and renew old friendships. We want every one to have a good time
Call Ron at 209-536-9415, if you have any questions.
Happy landings
