  • Great Massey Chili Flyin

The annual Massey air museum fly in is April 28 at Massey Maryland. Lots of Chili and MANY nice airplanes and autos. 3000 feet of nice grass runway. Usually about 80-100 aircraft show up, from T-Crafts to Stearmans and last year, a magnificent Grumman Goose from Forest hill airport in Maryland. Around 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. Easy to find from the air, DC3 parked next to office. Rain date is April 29th. JC

    Jim:

    Whats the Airport Identifier?
Is the Airport outside the Baltimore Class B or under one of the shelves? ADIZ?

    Sounds interesting....

    Thanks

Massey air museum is MD1 on the eastern shore of maryland well away from control space. North east of Chestertown. Years ago they flew DC3 out of there for mosquito control. JC

        Jim:

Great fly-in. Thanks for the heads up. Asked for you but... no luck.

Arrived before 11 AM and left at 2 PM. Great Chili. At least 20 + different Chilli to try. Great crowd and lots of planes... some 20 plus at least. I guess I was the only Taylorcraft of the bunch.

Very interesting Museum. Is that a Howard in the second hangar, behind the DC-3?

Let me know when you have another fly-in.

On the way back, I got into rain a few times, but if gave the plane a good wash. 2 hours flight time each way. Very nice views of the Chesapeake Bay, Bay Bridge and the Potomac river...great flight.

        Thanks again.

        Ralph

Keep me posted on the activities up there.

I think the weather threw alot of flyers off. I was unable to go sunday when the weather was perfect. Usually around 70-100 aircraft show up and a radio is advised. It gets busy! The airplane in the hangar may have been a VERY nice gull wing Stinson that they fly often. Also a nice 450 stearman that flys often. Google Massey Air Museum for schedule of events. JC
