  • Welcome to Canadain Warplane Heritage and Niagara Pennisula.

Canadian Warplane Heritage is Located in Hamilton Ontario with a collection bombers and trainers and figthers.
The only flying Lancaster in North America, a Lysander, and many others.
Also consider a visit to Niagara Falls and the Old town of Niagara on the Lake.
In Niagara Pennisula we make carparts and wine, we have a runway in the wine country, the one I use, and I can organize a Wine tour and accomedation in local B and B s, hotel or campground, your preference.
B and B and campground is within 15 min walking distance, or shorth car ride.
The runway is at the intersection of V 522 an V460
You find us on the Detroit chart
.Opps Victor airways are not US Charts, The squar with St Catharines 406 SN in north east corner works.
2 grass runways are avelable, clear approch from the north, trees on the south end 2000 ft long. East West 1700 ft goes up and down but is good for a Tayorcraft or other light aircrafts with a experienced pilot.
    Prevaling wind is southwest.
I am willing to give car rides and organize accomendation, tours, etc if someone wishes to visit a winery or for fuel.
Clear customs in St Catharines or Hamilton Ontario.
Fuel ; Avgas and aircraft servise in ST Catharines , Welland or Hamilton.
Mogas ESSO or Shell 91 octan Alcohol free, localy.
I would need 2-3 weeks notice depending on what help is required.

    Hi Len,

How viable would it be to visit from the UK? where is the nearest International Airport & best time of the year? What star is the Hotel etc and is there enough things to visit to keep a wife happy who likes to fly but can't understand the male obsession with aircraft! Guess it would be best to hire a car to get around and see the places. Is it possible to go on "The maid of the Mists" at Niagra and take the train to view the scenery? sorry my knowlege of Canada / States is not good having only visited Florida before to do some Flying but have always fancied visiting your area.

Ok you can visit Niagara Falls and stay in a hotel of any standard you would like as well as in Hamilton, Toronto or St Catharines.
yes airtours over Niagara Falls are a regular from Niagara Falls St Catharines and Welland.
The suggestion I put forward was for a low cost fun get together of Taylorcraft/ aircraft owners.
I will send you and pm with other sugestion.

Re: Welcome to Canadain Warplane Heritage and Niagara Pennisula.

        Robert,

Flight from the UK to Toronto are generally some of the cheapest going. There is even an airline that flies directly into Hamilton Airport where the Warplane Heritage museum is. It is FlyGlobeSpan - admittedly it does have a pretty poor reputation - zero stars actually .... consider it part of the aviation adventure.

        "FLYGLOBESPAN Star Ranking
Star Rating for Flyglobespan was withdrawn in 2007 and suspended by SKYTRAX. This was due to concerns about Flyglobespan product and service inconsistency - this situation still prevails in 2008 and no Star Rating can be applied at this time. "

If LEN does not offer you a ride in a local t-craft, I sure will. My favourite spot is the lake Erie shoreline - long point actually.

          Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies and PM from Len plus kind offer from Rotaxflyer. I will look into things as you all suggest and see where it takes me. The idea of a general gathering certainly seems a good idea and I would try and set up any trip to work in with it. Thanks again.
