I was rereading this book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...adow-of-eagles and noticed he was finally licensed in a Taylorcraft. That was after flying for practice as a barnstormer in the 1930's.
It's a good read as the link suggests. Lots from the upper Mid-West and Alaska.
