  • Fall West Coast Taylorcraft Event

We are now just one month away from a one time Fall West Coast Taylorcraft Event, Sept 23th and 24th in Paso Robles hosted by EAA Chapter 465. See the chapter website... http://www.eaa465.org/Taylorcraftflyin.pdf for details.

There has been a few small changes to the activities for the better, it looks like a full schedule of activities. Note that a fabric covering demo/seminar is planned. The EAA chapter has put in a lot of work into planning this event so please complete the registration form and mail it in so that we can have a head count for the event. Note that they are requesting you get your registration in by Sept 9th.

This is a Taylorcraft event but your friends/family are welcome to attend.

I plan to be there late Friday afternoon, 5 or 6 pm and stay until around noon on Sunday.
Hope to see you in four weeks!!

Just a reminder that the Paso Robles Taylorcraft gathering is a little over a week away. Plan to come, fly or drive as it is working out to be a fun event! Many of us plan to camp by our aircraft, which right across from the terminal, but transportation to a motel is available. I hope to see you on Friday Sept 22th!

I'm thinking about driving down. Is there a detail sheet about when, where, who, what, and schedule?

Well, its saturday morning and the wind is gusting pretty good here and is only going to get worse. Though "doable", the 2 hour, one way flight would certainly be less than fun... I think I'll sit this one out and hope for better tommorrow at the breakfast fly out at New Cayuma.

Re: Fall West Coast Taylorcraft Event

I just wanted to give a update on the Paso Robles Taylorcraft Event last weekend. We had perfect weather and a good turn out for the event. We had seven Taylorcrafts there if you count the EAA 465 chapter project which was on a trailer on the flight line. We want to thank David Fretwell, EAA 465 chapter president, for their work in planning and hosting the event.
Here is a report from Fretwell: Fifteen participated in the Fly-in at Paso Robles (KPRB) from throughout California, and one from Reno. Twelve arrived
by plane, and three by automobile. The three day event started with five arrivals on Friday 22, the majority who camped on the green grass near their planes.
Saturday 23 started with a pancake breakfast put on by EAA Chapter 465, the fly-in host. This was followed by visits to Antique Aero; Estrella Warbirds and Race Car Museum, Sculpterra Winery with music and classic cars, the Paso Robles Pioneer Museum, then an evening dinner at the historic Paso Robles Inn. To top the event off there was a two hour hands on workshop on fabric covering using Stewart System materials on Sunday 24 in the morning.
There was much sharing of information between participants, and the fly-in was of particular interest to EAA 465 as the Chapter is assisting a member restore his 1940 Taylorcraft.

Thanks again to EAA Chapter 465 for a fun event!
